On 22–23 April 2026, the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice hosted the conference Znaczenie Muzyki: Muzyka i słowo (The Meaning of Music: Music and Word). In the session “Problems of Musical Semantics,” Dr Tomasz Szubart delivered a paper titled “On the Semantic Function of Music,” presenting his teleosemantic account of musical meaning. We are especially pleased to report that Filip Flis, a student working under Dr Szubart’s supervision, also delivered a paper in the same session, discussing the use of galvanic skin response (GSR), pupillometry, and eye-tracking as complementary methods in research on music cognition. Their participation reflects one of CCRG’s research directions, linking philosophy of cognitive science, music cognition, emotion, and communication.
